The Ohio State Buckeyes have formally secured the commitment of Air Noland, a five-star quarterback and standout talent among the 2024 class.
Ohio State faced uncertainty at quarterback following Kyle McCord’s departure to the transfer portal at the close of the regular season. However, the future has now brightened significantly with the official signing of Air Noland, a standout quarterback from Langston Hughes (Fairburn, GA), during the early signing period on Wednesday.
Noland, ranked among the top four five-star quarterbacks in the 2024 class by 247Sports, garnered attention from prominent schools like Alabama, Miami, Texas A&M, Clemson, Arkansas, and others. Despite the intense pursuit, the Buckeyes emerged victorious in securing Noland’s commitment, a decision that he confessed was a close call until he experienced Ohio State firsthand.
“It was a close decision until I visited Ohio State,” Noland told ESPN. “They stood out in terms of development, comfort, institution environment, and the connection with the coaching staff. Ohio State really impressed me.”
During his junior season in 2022, Noland showcased impressive stats, throwing for 4,095 yards, 55 touchdowns, with only four interceptions, and contributing six rushing touchdowns on the way to a state championship. In the recent season, he completed 149 of 224 passes for 2,140 yards, 22 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
“The team feels like a brotherhood, both on and off the field,” Noland emphasized. “My connection with Coach Day, Coach Dennis, and Coach Hartline is undeniable. It felt like home for me and my family during our visit to Ohio State.”
