The Kansas City Chiefs have faced a rough patch, losing four out of six games. Travis Kelce, in a heated conversation with his brother Jason, expressed frustration, urging the entire offense to step up their performance.
Following their 20-14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day, Kelce was visibly upset, requiring the intervention of the team’s head coach to calm him down, while Patrick Mahomes was emotional towards the end of the game.
Kelce highlighted the struggles of the receiving team lately, acknowledging Rashee Rice’s efforts but emphasizing that blaming Mahomes alone isn’t fair. He stressed that it’s a collective responsibility and accountability issue among all team members. Kelce pointed out that errors occur across different aspects, including preparation, understanding defensive strategies, gaps in the run game, and execution of plays against various coverages.
As for solutions, the Chiefs, with a .333 win percentage since their Week 10 bye, need to address their issues urgently. Kelce underscored the importance of everyone working cohesively and efficiently to salvage their form and season before the playoffs. He emphasized the need to eliminate self-inflicted setbacks like penalties and improve consistency across drives to regain their past high-powered offensive prowess.
“Everybody’s just got to f**king do their job,” Kelce added. “Throughout the season, we’ve shown during drives that we can be a high-powered offense if we don’t hurt ourselves with penalties, if we’re not playing first-and-f**king-20.
“Every other drive or every other set of first downs just hasn’t been a well-oiled machine like we’ve been in the past and we just got to get everybody on the same f**king page.”
