Ipswich Town is reportedly eyeing a January move for Manchester United’s winger, Amad Diallo. According to Darren Witcoop, the Championship team is intensifying its search for an attacker due to George Hirst’s prolonged injury.

Additionally, Southampton has shown interest in Amad. The 21-year-old hasn’t seen any action this season following a serious knee injury sustained in pre-season. While he’s back in training, a loan move seems likely for the Ivorian, who remains under contract with United until 2025.

The question arises: should United approve a loan deal in January? Amad, acquired by the Reds for £37 million in 2021, was anticipated to have more playing time this season after an impressive loan spell at Sunderland. He featured in 37 Championship games last season, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists.

However, a significant injury setback in the summer sidelined him for the first half of the ongoing campaign. While nearing full fitness, United should consider offering him an opportunity to showcase his skills.

Presently, Antony occupies the right-wing position, but the Brazilian’s performance has been underwhelming with no goals scored in 15 league appearances. Amad might not be ready for consistent starting roles due to limited recent game time, but he could serve as a valuable option on the bench for manager Erik ten Hag.
