Florida State began the 2023 season with a quartet of quarterbacks on scholarship. Within a short span, the quarterback room experienced a significant shift, leaving only redshirt freshman Brock Glenn remaining as redshirt senior Jordan Travis graduated, while redshirt junior Tate Rodemaker and redshirt freshman AJ Duffy departed for different reasons.

Rodemaker’s departure marked the latest exit from the quarterback lineup. He opted to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal just ahead of FSU’s Orange Bowl clash against Georgia, deciding to sit out the game as he weighed his future. This move pushed Glenn into his second consecutive start to close out the season.

Already attracting attention from potential suitors, the graduate transfer is exploring options and might soon embark on a visit. South Carolina has emerged as a program actively considering Rodemaker, with a potential trip to Columbia potentially happening in the upcoming weekend, per reports from GamecockCentral.

The Gamecocks find themselves in a transition, seeking to fill the gap left by quarterback Spencer Rattler, who declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. Additionally, redshirt sophomore Colten Gauthier’s entry into the transfer portal has further reduced their quarterback roster to redshirt senior Luke Doty, redshirt sophomore Tanner Bailey, and redshirt freshman LaNorris Sellers.

Rodemaker’s tenure in Tallahassee spanned four years, primarily backing up Travis. He intermittently stepped into the starting role during critical moments, steering the Seminoles to victories against Louisville and Florida on the road. Throughout his stint at Florida State, Rodemaker logged 68 completions out of 118 attempts for 901 yards, tallying seven touchdowns against five interceptions across 22 appearances, including three starts.

Following Rodemaker’s departure, Florida State welcomed former Oregon State and Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei via the transfer portal, bolstering the roster alongside Glenn and true freshman signee Luke Kromenhoek.

Aside from Rodemaker, a significant exodus from Florida State has seen various players, including quarterbacks Tate Rodemaker and AJ Duffy (now at San Diego State), among others, enter the transfer portal since December’s opening window.
