Following the departure of several offensive linemen due to graduation, the NFL draft, and the transfer portal, the Sooners addressed a critical need by securing a significant addition on Saturday. Oklahoma welcomed Michael Tarquin, a seasoned offensive lineman who spent the 2023 season at USC after four years at Florida.
At 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, Tarquin brings substantial experience, having made starts at left guard and left tackle for the Gators, and later at right tackle for the Trojans. He was highly regarded as a 4-star recruit and previously considered an offer from Oklahoma during his high school days.
Tarquin, a redshirt senior with one season of eligibility remaining, chose Oklahoma after revisiting the campus, solidifying his commitment. His on-field performance, particularly in pass blocking, has been notable, with significant game time experience both in the SEC and at USC, where he blocked for former Sooner QB Caleb Williams.
The addition of Tarquin marks the third offensive lineman to commit to Bill Bedenbaugh from the transfer portal, alongside Spencer Brown from Michigan State and Febechi Nwaiwu from North Texas. This move significantly bolsters the Sooners’ offensive line, addressing gaps left by departures and offering valuable experience as they navigate competition in the SEC.
