Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Kaidon Salter, who had been with Liberty for the past three seasons, was reportedly planning to enter the NCAA transfer portal earlier this week.
However, a recent report by 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer on Friday evening revealed that Salter had reversed his decision and pulled out of the portal.
Salter’s potential entry into the transfer portal had sparked considerable interest due to his remarkable performance during the 2023 season. He showcased impressive stats, throwing for 2,876 yards, completing 32 touchdowns, and recording just six interceptions. Moreover, his prowess in rushing saw him amass 1,089 yards and score 12 touchdowns.
Auburn was one of the programs anticipated to pursue Salter, particularly considering the possibility of a reunion between Salter and his former Liberty head coach, Hugh Freeze.
Originally signed with Tennessee in the 2021 recruiting cycle, Salter faced dismissal from the team by head coach Josh Heupel before getting the opportunity to take the field for the Vols, following two separate incidents associated with drugs.
