The Steelers have inked deals with 17 players for Reserve/Future contracts.
The Steelers have officially signed 17 players to Reserve/Future contracts, a majority of whom were part of the team’s practice squad during the 2023 season.
Among those signed is cornerback Luq Barcoo, who joined the team on a one-year contract earlier in the offseason and was subsequently added to the practice squad at the beginning of the regular season. Before joining the Steelers, Barcoo played for the San Antonio Brahmas in the XFL. During the season, he accumulated 31 tackles, one interception, and a sack.
Barcoo initially entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars after the 2020 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he played in three games, starting one, and registered 10 tackles, one tackle for a loss, and a pass defensed. While he has had stints with the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, and Kansas City Chiefs, he did not see game action with any of those teams.
Barcoo had a notable collegiate career, playing two years at San Diego State. His senior season was particularly outstanding, leading the NCAA with nine interceptions and earning him recognition as a third-team Associated Press All-American and a first-team All-Mountain West Conference selection.
