Nottingham Forest manager Nuno expressed his frustration following their 3-2 loss to Brentford. The Forest team believed that Ivan Toney manipulated the ball in his favor before scoring from a free-kick, and there were concerns about Neal Maupay using his hand in the winning goal.
Reflecting on the match, Nuno acknowledged his team’s commendable effort, stating, “The way we played, the boys worked hard. We scored, bounced back, reacted – it was a good game with both teams fighting for it. It’s tough to take, but we move forward.”
Addressing Toney’s equalizer, Nuno pointed out, “Just the ball displacement, right? The rules state that every goal must be checked, but they cannot review ball displacement. It’s an issue, another situation we need to examine, and unfortunately, we found ourselves on the wrong side of it. It was crucial to control the situation, knowing Brentford would react.”
Regarding the disputed third goal and a potential handball, Nuno remarked, “The boys were arguing about the situation, but they worked hard. Two days ago, we had a tough game, so the players’ response was excellent. We need to assess our performance, become more solid, compact, and improve our defense. Despite the challenges, the team’s attitude, playing, scoring, and going for the game, remains amazing for me.”
