The Gophers extend an offer to Shaker Reisig, a high school quarterback from Oklahoma.
Reisig, who secured a state title in 2021, has consistently dominated his opponents over the last two seasons. Despite the apparent stability in the Minnesota Golden Gophers’ quarterback lineup, with Max Brosmer set as the 2024 starter and incoming freshman Drake Lindsey poised to take over in 2025, the team is actively pursuing additional talent and competition.
Although there are no certainties, the future looks promising as Brosmer topped the FCS in passing yards (and ranked second with 29 touchdown passes) in 2023, while Lindsey, named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Arkansas, led his high school to a state championship. Despite these accomplishments, the Gophers continue their recruitment efforts, exemplified by the recent offer extended to Shaker Reisig, a high school quarterback from Oklahoma.
Confirming the news on Monday, the 6-foot-1 quarterback from Union High School in Tulsa shared that he has received a scholarship offer from the University of Minnesota. Reisig showcased his skills in eight games during his junior season, impressively throwing 30 touchdown passes with an 80% completion rate. In his sophomore year in 2022, he amassed over 2,600 yards and 27 touchdowns. Cumulatively, he has thrown an impressive 57 touchdown passes in 19 varsity games.
Reisig’s journey includes transferring to Tulsa Union after leading Jenks High School to a state championship as a freshman starter in 2021, just a few miles away in suburban Tulsa.
