Tottenham Hotspur remains actively pursuing the signing of Jarrad Branthwaite.
Tottenham Hotspur is persisting in their pursuit of Jarrad Branthwaite, despite having secured the signings of two center-backs in the last two transfer windows. Despite the additions of Dutch defender Micky van de Ven in the summer and Radu Dragusin earlier this month, The Daily Mail reports that Spurs’ interest in Everton’s Branthwaite remains unchanged.
The club has deployed scouts to closely monitor the 21-year-old, and they seem impressed with his performance. Additionally, Tottenham values Branthwaite’s homegrown status, especially considering their existing first-team center-backs are all imported players.
Notably, Manchester United has also identified Branthwaite as their “top defensive target” for the upcoming summer transfer window. The club is contemplating a significant overhaul of Erik ten Hag’s defensive lineup due to injuries and concerns about the compatibility, age, and suitability of their current center-backs.
Branthwaite, standing at an imposing 6’5, aligns well with United’s desire for a physically dominant center-back. His proficiency on the ball, comfort in possession under pressure, and ability to play out from the back make him a modern defender well-suited for the demands of the Premier League.
The young defender’s impressive performances have attracted interest from other top clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and even Real Madrid, in addition to Tottenham and Manchester United. With Everton facing financial fair play regulations, there is a possibility that they might need to generate funds in the upcoming summer, making Branthwaite a sought-after target for these clubs.
