Daniel Farke addressed the media ahead of Leeds United’s upcoming match against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

This marks Leeds United’s return to an FA Cup tie, reminiscent of their last appearance in the competition’s final during the 1972-73 season. At the same fourth-round stage, they secured a 2-1 victory against Plymouth at Elland Road, with goals from Allan Clarke and Mick Bates.

Archie Gray’s grandfather, Frankie Gray, was on the bench that historic day, but his grandson will be absent 51 years later due to a knee injury sustained in the midweek 1-0 win over Norwich City. Gray may return for the Bristol City match next Friday, while winger Dan James (abductor) will miss both games.

Anticipating multiple changes from the midweek victory, winger Willy Gnonto is available after recovering from a hip problem. However, Pascal Struijk (adductor) will miss at least two more games, and Stuart Dallas and Karl Darlow remain sidelined.

Farke provided an update on Charlie Cresswell’s future, stating that “the door is back open” for Cresswell to be reintegrated into matchdays. Farke has recently spoken with Cresswell and expressed satisfaction with the center-back’s feedback.

The manager expressed pride in Junior Firpo’s recent performances, acknowledging the challenges he has faced in terms of injury, form, and criticism.

With a rescheduled fixture cleared midweek, is this Leeds’ opportunity to give their all in the Cup? Farke emphasized the team’s commitment to taking the tie seriously while avoiding any reckless decisions. He stated, “Nobody wants a replay, but [Leeds] are approaching the tie with utmost seriousness. However, we also won’t do anything foolish. Our preparations will involve no less than a hundred percent effort.”

Remaining tight-lipped about potential transfers before the upcoming deadline on Thursday, Farke reiterated Leeds’ need for depth in certain positions. However, he acknowledged the difficulty of securing desired players in this window and admitted he would be dishonest if he guaranteed sticking with the current squad after the window closes.
