The Cleveland Browns hire a former Buffalo Bills assistant to fill the vacant position of offensive coordinator.
Eleven days following the departure of offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt and several other offensive assistants, the Cleveland Browns have appointed a new offensive coordinator, bringing in former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey for the position. Dorsey, who served as the Bills’ signal caller for the last two seasons, was terminated mid-season when the team’s record fell to 5-5.
Ken Dorsey is familiar with Cleveland, having spent three seasons as a quarterback for the Browns from 2006 to 2008. During that period, he started in only three games, completing 43 out of 92 passes for 370 yards with seven interceptions, and he did not throw a touchdown in a Browns uniform.
Upon retiring from football in 2011, Dorsey swiftly reentered the NFL as a Pro Scout, joining the Carolina Panthers as part of first-year head coach Ron Rivera’s staff. By 2013, he transitioned into a coaching role as a quarterback coach. Over the subsequent five seasons, Dorsey closely collaborated with the 2015 league MVP Cam Newton, and in the same year, the Panthers made a Super Bowl appearance.
