The Steelers have lost yet another candidate for their coaching position.

The Pittsburgh Steelers won’t be able to secure one of the premier quarterback coaches in the NFL, as Jerrod Johnson has opted for a contract extension with the Houston Texans. This decision follows Johnson’s interview for the Steelers’ offensive coordinator role, which ultimately went to former Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith. Despite speculation about the possibility of offering Johnson a position as their QB coach/passing game coordinator after the hiring, those prospects have been dismissed as Johnson has decided to remain in Houston.
