The Pittsburgh Steelers are anticipated to bring on board Arthur Smith, the former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, as their next offensive coordinator, as confirmed by league sources to ESPN.
Steelers owner Art Rooney II expressed eagerness about the prospect of having a new figure with a fresh approach to aid the growth and performance of their young players, ensuring consistent high-level performance from the offense. Rooney mentioned on Monday that the hiring process for the position would happen sooner rather than later.
Arthur Smith was dismissed by the Atlanta Falcons earlier this month, concluding a tenure that saw a 21-30 record over three consecutive 7-10 seasons without a playoff appearance. Prior to his time in Atlanta, Smith served as the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans from 2019–2020. His association with the Titans dates back to 2011, when he started as a defensive quality control coach. He subsequently held various coaching roles, including offensive quality control coach, offensive line coach, assistant tight ends coach, and tight ends coach, before eventually being promoted to offensive coordinator.
