On Tuesday, the New York Giants addressed two coaching vacancies by appointing former members of the Tennessee Titans’ staff. Shane Bowen, who held the defensive coordinator role with the Titans for the past three seasons, is now taking on the same position with the Giants. Simultaneously, the Giants selected Tim Kelly, the former offensive coordinator for the Titans, to serve as their tight ends coach. At 37 years old, Bowen steps in as the replacement for Wink Martindale, who parted ways with the Giants in January after a two-season tenure. Despite the Giants’ defense ranking 27th overall in 2023 under Martindale, it tied for first in turnovers created. Under Bowen’s leadership, the Titans stood at 13th in the NFL for rushing yards allowed per game (107.7), and 18th in total offense allowed (335.1 yards) and passing yards (227.4). Bowen initially spent the 2018-20 seasons coaching the Titans’ outside linebackers.
