Omari Thomas, the senior defensive lineman, served as the Tennessee representative on the Southeastern Conference Football Leadership Council held in Birmingham, Alabama. Among the 14 league representatives, Thomas engaged in various activities during the council, including discussions with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, examination of NCAA and SEC legislative matters, dialogues with SEC Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Katie O’Neal, interactions with football officials regarding game rules, and conversations on topics such as student-athlete and referee relations, as well as careers in officiating.

The council’s agenda also encompassed the review of SEC student-athlete compliance regulations, considerations of NCAA transfer portal restrictions, and discussions on financial decision-making opportunities.
