The newly appointed manager, who previously led Southampton and Luton Town, has stepped into the role at the League One side, replacing Michael Appleton with a four-and-a-half-year contract. During his introductory press conference, the 50-year-old stated that this situation differs from his start at Luton. Emphasizing his authority, he asserted that he would have the “final say” on recruitment. Expressing optimism about the football club, he mentioned its current undesirable position but highlighted the potential for growth and improvement. Despite acknowledging that the club is not in the same starting position as Luton, he sees a genuine opportunity to establish a strong presence at this esteemed football club. The manager’s contract is confirmed to extend until 2028. Jones has a successful track record, having guided Luton from League Two to the Championship in two managerial periods between 2016-2019 and 2020-2022, with a brief stint at Stoke City in between.
