The Miami Dolphins coaching staff keeps changing.

The Miami Dolphins are experiencing ongoing coaching changes, and the latest involves the recruitment of Roman Sapolu, currently the University of Hawaii co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach. While his specific role with the Dolphins remains unclear, Sapolu brings notable NFL lineage as the son of former San Francisco 49ers guard Jesse Sapolu, a four-time Super Bowl champion in the 1980s and ’90s.

Roman Sapolu, a former Oregon State collegiate player, transitions to the NFL coaching realm after a stint as a summer coaching intern with the San Francisco 49ers in 2018, coinciding with Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel’s early tenure as the team’s run game coordinator.

Additionally, Brian Duker has been appointed as the new secondary coach/pass game coordinator. Duker, previously with the Detroit Lions, worked alongside the new Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver during their time with the Cleveland Browns in 2015. His recent experience includes overseeing the defensive backs for the Lions, contributing to the development of rookie Kerby Joseph’s successful 2022 season.

However, not all coaching staff members will return for the 2024 season. Renaldo Hill, the secondary coach and passing game coordinator from the previous season, will not be part of the Dolphins in the upcoming season, possibly exploring opportunities with the Philadelphia Eagles alongside former Dolphins great Sam Madison. Several other staff changes are reported, including the departure of linebackers coach Anthony Campanile, assistant special teams coach Brendan Farrell, safeties coach Joe Kasper, assistant defensive line Kenny Baker, and offensive assistants Ricardo Allen, Mike Judge, and Kolby Smith.

While the Dolphins traditionally withhold official announcements until the coaching staff is fully assembled, these reported changes signal a significant overhaul in various coaching roles for the upcoming season.
