Asking quarterback Michael Penix Jr. of the Washington Huskies Thursday about his memories of defeating the Texas Longhorns in the Alamo Bowl the previous season elicited a brief but insightful response.
On New Year’s Day, in the College Football Playoff Semifinals at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, No. 3 Texas (12-1) will take on Penix and No. 2 Washington (13-0).
Penix stated stoically, “I don’t remember anything, I just remember winning.”
Check out the footage, as reported by Jake Garcia of King 5 News:
Penix appeared to have some fiery reason behind his brief remarks, even though Washington won the game 27–20 and for the most part, Washington controlled the game. Many players could automatically respond with the same old “they’re a good team” remarks.
