Fehervar FC asserted that Charlton abruptly canceled the anticipated transfer of George Dobson, originally scheduled to be finalized on Monday. The Addicks’ team captain was set to travel to Budapest on that day to complete the transfer, taking advantage of the still-open Hungarian transfer window.
However, Fehervar has released a statement confirming the deal’s cancellation. Nevertheless, they mentioned that Dobson will officially join them on July 1, coinciding with the expiration of his terms with Charlton.
The statement on Fehervar’s website conveyed, “In recent days, our club reached an agreement on all terms with George Dobson’s club for an immediate transfer in February. However, the London club withdrew from the deal at the last moment, and as a result, the midfielder will become a part of our club from July 1.”
Attila Balogh, Fehervar’s managing director, expressed, “It appeared that George Dobson could join us before the February 14 deadline. However, his current club pulled out of the transfer at the last second, despite both parties having agreed on all conditions in writing. The young midfielder’s family had already relocated, and our club had organized the usual medical examinations and paperwork.”
