The New England Patriots are currently in the process of bringing on former NFL receiver Tiquan Underwood as their assistant wide receivers coach, as reported by Albert Breer of The MMQB on Sunday.
Since 2022, Underwood has been serving as the wide receivers coach and pass game coordinator at the University of Pittsburgh. The 36-year-old had a five-season NFL career from 2009 to 2013, playing for three different teams. Notably, he was a teammate of Mayo during his time with the Patriots in the 2011 season.
During his brief stint with New England in 2011, Underwood recorded just three receptions for 30 yards in six games. His time with the Patriots is particularly remembered for the team’s decision to release him on the eve of Super Bowl XLVI against the New York Giants, a game that New England ultimately lost 21-17.
