Two-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots, Danny Amendola, gained coaching experience this season as an assistant with the Las Vegas Raiders, specifically overseeing the returners. Despite the exposure to coaching, Amendola has decided to put a pause on his coaching career. Expressing his sentiments on “The Dan and Ninko Show,” hosted by former Patriots teammate Rob Ninkovich, the 38-year-old mentioned, “I think I’m good on the coaching thing for a little bit. I wanted to get in and kind of see what it was all about.” Reflecting on his coaching stint, Amendola shared, “I’m really glad I did it. I think I retired my whistle for now.”

Having played 13 seasons in the NFL for five different teams, including a significant period with the Patriots from 2013-17, Amendola officially retired in July 2022 after his last season with the Houston Texans in 2021. While coaching provided an opportunity to stay connected to the game, Amendola admitted that it didn’t evoke the same passion as playing did. He explained, “A lot of it felt like work, and a lot of it felt — it’s just hard to replace that feeling you get of that competitive nature when you’re not playing.”

Looking ahead, the Texas native revealed his plans, stating, “I’m going to kind of start getting back into real estate here in Austin.”
