The Pittsburgh Steelers are aiming to maintain continuity in the upcoming season by retaining most of their current roster, even those who served as fillers in the 2023 lineup.
As free agency approaches, the team is in the process of assessing which players they will seek to re-sign and who they will allow to depart. Initial cuts have already been made, with three players released earlier in the week. The next step involves deciding which of their impending free agents, including one of their starting cornerbacks, they will engage in contract negotiations with.
Slot cornerback Chandon Sullivan, in an interview with Ron Lippock of Steelers Takeaways, revealed that he and the Steelers discussed their future plans during their exit meeting. Sullivan is set to enter free agency after completing a single season with the team.
Expressing his perspective, Sullivan stated, “I felt like I did the most with the opportunities I had. I didn’t play as many snaps as I’m used to – that’s just how it ended up schematically. But I took advantage of the opportunities I had on defense and on special teams.” He added that the team expressed an interest in continuing their association, but he acknowledges the unpredictable nature of the NFL business. Despite uncertainties, Sullivan remains unfazed, confident that he will find a place to play in the league.
