Dele Alli’s potential departure from Everton could result in a financial setback of £10 million for his former club, Tottenham Hotspur. The payment was contingent on Dele reaching 20 appearances for Everton, but with only 13 games played and the unlikelihood of reaching the specified mark, Spurs attempted to renegotiate in December. They proposed reducing the payment to £8 million if the required number of appearances was lowered. However, Everton, facing financial challenges after a deduction of 10 points for violating profit and sustainability rules in November, might opt to forego the deal entirely.

Dele’s contract with Everton is set to conclude at the end of the season, with no indication of an extension. It remains unclear whether Spurs would receive compensation if Dele fails to meet the 20-game threshold. Tensions between the two clubs escalated in November when Everton accused Spurs of taking advantage of their financial difficulties during transfer negotiations. Everton alleged that Tottenham’s reluctance to pay £80 million for Richarlison, who was ultimately signed for £60 million, was attributed to ‘PSR calculation difficulties.’

Dele has been sidelined since August 2022 due to groin surgery at the end of January, marking his last competitive match in February 2023 while playing for Besiktas in a Turkish Super Lig game against Antalyaspor.
