Myles Garrett, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, expressed his belief that injuries significantly hindered the Cleveland Browns’ chances of making their first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history last season. Speaking on ESPN’s First Take, Garrett highlighted the impact of key players, such as Deshaun Watson and Nick Chubb, getting injured. Despite the challenges, Garrett praised the team’s resilience and camaraderie throughout the season.
He asserted that if the team had remained healthy, they would likely have been playing in the Super Bowl. Garrett acknowledged the adversity faced due to injuries and commended the team for overcoming it. Reflecting on specific games, he mentioned victories against strong opponents like the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers.
Regarding the upcoming Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, Garrett shared insights on how the Chiefs could disrupt the 49ers’ offensive strategy. He emphasized the need for physicality, particularly at the receiver position, to limit the impact of key players like George Kittle.
Despite the Browns not making it to the 2024 Super Bowl, Garrett’s individual performance was exceptional, finishing the season with impressive statistics, including 30 quarterback hits, 17 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks. He also received Pro Bowl honors for the fourth consecutive year and was named first-team All Pro in 2023, solidifying his outstanding contributions to the team.
