Joe Mixon, a veteran running back for the Cincinnati Bengals, achieved his fourth 1,000-yard rushing season in the National Football League during the previous year, marking his tenure with the team.
However, despite Mixon’s success, there is speculation about the Bengals considering a departure. The reason behind this is the impending $3 million roster bonus due to Mixon in mid-March, along with a 2024 salary-cap hit of approximately $8.85 million. Mixon had previously agreed to a contract restructure in July, leaving him with one year remaining on his current deal with the Bengals.
As the NFL free agency period kicks off on March 11, Cincinnati might explore options for a running back with a lower expected salary than Mixon, potentially making him a cap casualty.
According to CBS Sports’ Jordan Dajani, the Bengals are among three potential destinations for JK Dobbins, a running back for the Baltimore Ravens and former Ohio State Buckeyes standout. Dobbins had an impressive rookie season in 2020 with 805 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, along with 120 receiving yards. However, he missed the entire 2021 season due to a torn ACL, played in eight games in 2022 before sustaining another knee injury, and tore his Achilles in Week 1 of the last season.
In January 2023, Dobbins expressed his belief that the Ravens would have won their playoff game against the Bengals if Lamar Jackson had been available at quarterback. Tyler Huntley replaced the injured Jackson in that game.
