After initially joining the Detroit Lions’ practice squad in the early part of the season, Michael Badgley demonstrated perfection in field goal attempts after his elevation in Week 15. Recent reports indicate that he is set to return to the Lions under a one-year deal.

Badgley’s association with the Lions began in 2022, as he was signed early in the season to address injuries to Austin Seibert and Dominik Eberle. In his debut season with the Lions, he achieved a 20-for-24 record in field goals.

Although he returned to the team in 2023, Badgley was released during training camp following a competition that involved Riley Patterson and John Parker Romo. Subsequently, he rejoined the team on the practice squad, spending the initial 14 weeks there. Eventually, he emerged victorious in an extended kicking competition against Patterson and was elevated for the first time in Week 15 against Denver.

As a result of Badgley’s success, Patterson was released and later joined the Cleveland Browns. Serving as the kicker for the remainder of the season, Badgley displayed precision by going 4-for-4 on field goal attempts during the final four games. Additionally, he made 13-of-15 extra-point attempts, with one miss attributed to a block.
