Michigan football reporter Isaiah Hole finally reveals the long-anticipated status update on Michigan coach Mike Hart.
Mike Hart, Michigan’s all-time leading rusher, transitioned to the role of running backs coach for the Wolverines under Jim Harbaugh, following a four-year stint in the same position with the Indiana Hoosiers. As a key addition to new head coach Sherrone Moore’s post-Harbaugh coaching staff, Hart’s status had been a topic of speculation among fans, eager to know about his role with the team.
Recently, Isaiah Hole, a seasoned Michigan football reporter, provided an update on Hart’s situation during his “Locked on Wolverines” podcast. According to Hole, Mike Hart is currently on a “leave of absence” from the Michigan football coaching staff, and the reasons for this absence remain undisclosed.
During a discussion on the completion of Moore’s coaching staff, Hole emphasized that the status of Mike Hart’s return is the only remaining piece of the puzzle. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Hart’s situation, Hole conveyed that he was not sure if there was any cause for concern.
“He is on a leave of absence, I have been told,” Hole shared during the podcast.
It’s worth noting that Hart experienced a health scare on October 8, 2022, collapsing on the sidelines during a game against the Hoosiers in Bloomington, Indiana. Following this incident, he spent time in a local hospital but returned to the sidelines the subsequent week for the game against Penn State. Despite the setback, Hart went on to play a crucial role in coaching Michigan team captain Blake Corum to second-team All-American honors in 2023, contributing to one of the nation’s top rushing attacks.
