According to Fox News, Tim McKyer, a former cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has been arrested in Florida on multiple hit-and-run charges. The 60-year-old McKyer was taken into custody in Palm Beach County on Monday and is facing five counts of leaving the scene of a crash. The charges stem from an incident in which he allegedly collided with five parked cars inside a parking garage at a housing complex in Riviera Beach, Florida.
The police report notes that security footage captures McKyer striking the vehicles and then leaving the scene on foot. During the interview with the arresting officer, it was reported that McKyer’s breath smelled of alcohol, and he appeared to be “not aware of an accident that occurred.” Despite this, no DUI charges were filed. McKyer’s court date is scheduled for March 4.
Selected in the third round of the 1984 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers, McKyer had a varied career in the NFL. While spending just one season with the Steelers, he played in all 16 games, including two starts, contributing to Pittsburgh’s journey to the AFC Championship game.
