The Kansas City Chiefs Secure Signing of Matt Araiza, Also Known as ‘The Punt God’
On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs officially added punter Matt Araiza, a former fifth-round pick. Araiza, who gained popularity among Bengals fans as a potential target for Cincinnati, is known for his skills in special teams. While the Chiefs currently boast one of the NFL’s top punters in Tommy Townsend, who is set to become a free agent next month, Araiza provides an alternative option in case Townsend is not re-signed.
Araiza, initially drafted by the Bills in the 2022 NFL Draft, faced a release in the summer of the same year following accusations of rape. However, the case was dismissed in December. Despite previously working out for the Jets, Araiza has now landed with the Kansas City Chiefs, setting the stage for potential matchups against the Bills and the Bengals in the upcoming season.
