The Raiders are rumored to have an interest in Justin Fields.

The Las Vegas Raiders are actively seeking to bolster their quarterback roster, and once again, they are being mentioned as a potential destination for quarterback Justin Fields. Sportskeeda’s Tony Pauline suggests that, given their draft picks and the connection with the new Offensive Coordinator, Luke Getsy, the Raiders are genuinely interested in acquiring Fields.

Pauline states, “There’s another team that I’m told has a genuine interest in acquiring Fields and will explore trading for him: the Las Vegas Raiders.” He points out that the Raiders’ current quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, is likely to be cut after a less-than-ideal performance, making room for a potential new signal-caller.

Aidan O’Connell, who took over from Garoppolo last season, is presently at the top of the depth chart. However, despite O’Connell’s competent performance, Coach Antonio Pierce has emphasized the need for competition for the starting position in the upcoming season, signaling the team’s intention to add another quarterback.

Pauline notes that the Raiders’ new General Manager, Tom Telesco, is seeking a prominent quarterback, and the recent hiring of former Bears Offensive Coordinator Luke Getsy would facilitate Fields’ transition to the team.

The Raiders, with Offensive Coordinator Getsy’s familiarity with Fields, appear to be an attractive destination for the young quarterback. The team’s ample draft picks, including a selection in each of the first six rounds, further position them as potential contenders for Fields. Despite the reported interest, the likelihood of the Raiders pursuing Fields this offseason remains uncertain.

The NFL Scouting Combine is scheduled from February 27 to March 4, 2024, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The NFL Draft is set to take place in Detroit, Michigan, on April 25-27, 2024, with the Las Vegas Raiders currently holding the 13th overall pick.
