The vacancy for the head coaching position at the Panthers arose when Shawn Elliot recently opted to become the tight ends coach at South Carolina. McGee swiftly emerged as a candidate, with both parties expressing mutual interest, and the official announcement was made today.
McGee has been an integral part of the Georgia football program since 2016, coinciding with Kirby Smart’s initial hiring. Initially serving as the running backs coach for three seasons, he earned a promotion to assistant head coach. In 2019, McGee assumed the role of the team’s run game coordinator, a position he has held ever since. Before joining the Georgia program, he gained experience at Auburn and Georgia Southern, initially establishing himself in the Georgia high school football scene with involvement in various programs.
