The Mississippi football program has appointed the former Ohio State quarterbacks coach as a football analyst. Corey Dennis, who had previously taken on an analyst role under coach Kyle Whittingham at Utah, is now listed on the Ole Miss football staff’s directory, a confirmation provided by the program to The Dispatch.
Following four seasons as the Buckeyes’ quarterbacks coach, Ohio State did not retain Dennis when coach Ryan Day hired Bill O’Brien as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Despite this, in the release announcing O’Brien’s appointment, Day had indicated that Dennis was expected to remain with the program in some capacity. However, three weeks later, O’Brien left to assume the head coaching position at Boston College, leading to the hiring of Chip Kelly as the new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Dennis, a 31-year-old who is also the son-in-law of former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, began his journey with the program as an intern in 2015. He took on the role of quarterbacks coach in 2020, succeeding Mike Yurcich, and worked with notable quarterbacks like Justin Fields, C.J. Stroud, and Kyle McCord.
