Title: “Nottingham Forest Manager Nuno Expands Coaching Staff with Former Referee Mark Clattenburg”
Nottingham Forest’s manager, Nuno, has shed light on the decision to bring former referee Mark Clattenburg on board as a referee analyst for the team.
In anticipation of their match against Aston Villa, Nuno explained, “Appointing Mark was more to try to understand some of the decisions that are being made, and try to understand the interpretation of the referee and VAR.”
The move comes in the wake of recent incidents, such as the one against West Ham, where Nuno believes there was a clear penalty that was overlooked by both the on-field referee and VAR. The aim of Clattenburg’s addition to the coaching staff is to gain insights into officiating decisions and the nuances of VAR interpretations.
Regarding the recent incident, Nuno stated, “Once again, we had an incident this week, against West Ham, which was clear. Neither the referee or VAR made the right decision, I think, because in my opinion, it was a clear penalty. It’s trying to understand some of the decisions.”
While the manager has not spoken to Clattenburg since the incident, they have had previous meetings, and more discussions are planned for the future. The objective is to enhance the team’s understanding of officiating decisions, with the ultimate goal of ensuring that the right decisions are made, aligning with the expectations of all football clubs.
