San Francisco 49ers’ standout wide receiver Deebo Samuel made a comeback to practice on Thursday, bringing a positive turn of events as the team readies for the NFC Championship Game. Samuel had suffered a left shoulder injury during the first quarter of last Saturday’s divisional round win against the Green Bay Packers. Despite attempting to return to the game, he was eventually ruled out and did not rejoin the match.

Earlier in the week, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan had indicated a 50-50 chance of Samuel playing in the upcoming game against the Detroit Lions. While the shoulder did not have a fracture, Samuel experienced significant pain. In Thursday’s practice, Samuel’s involvement was limited, and his participation will likely be closely monitored in the lead-up to the game.

The 49ers’ Thursday injury report brought positive news, with defensive tackles Arik Armstead and Kalia Davis, linebacker Dre Greenlaw, safety George Odum, and cornerback Ambry Thomas all participating fully.

On the Lions’ side, rookie tight end Sam LaPorta returned to practice on a limited basis after dealing with a knee injury. However, wide receiver Kalif Raymond, guard Jonah Jackson, center Frank Ragnow, and cornerback Chase Lucas missed practice for the second consecutive day due to various injuries and illnesses. The Lions are hopeful to have key players available as they face a formidable challenge against the 49ers in the upcoming game.
