“Tennessee Vols Gaining Attention for Exceptional Pass Rusher from the West Coast”
The Tennessee Vols find themselves among the top three programs vying for the commitment of a highly sought-after 2026 edge rusher from the west coast.
According to Rivals.com’s Adam Gorney, Tennessee, Texas, and USC stand out as the primary contenders in the race to secure the commitment of Shaun Scott, a four-star edge rusher in the 2026 class. Additionally, Alabama and Ohio State are expressing interest in entering the competition.
Hailing from Santa Ana, CA, the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Scott is ranked as the No. 49 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class by Rivals. Interestingly, Scott attends the same high school, Mater Dei, as current Vols wide receiver Bru McCoy.
Scheduled for a visit to Tennessee in late March, Scott’s potential commitment to USC is seen as favorable due to the geographical proximity. However, the Vols, under the leadership of Josh Heupel, have demonstrated their ability to attract top-tier talent from the west coast. As a result, Tennessee should be recognized as a strong contender in this recruitment battle.
