Tennessee-Titans-NFL-Draft-Grades-2023

Following their elimination from the 2023 NFL playoffs, the Tennessee Titans are now focusing on the upcoming offseason, beginning with free agency. The team, which parted ways with longtime head coach Mike Vrabel after a disappointing 6-11 season, is currently without a new head coach. The incoming coach for the 2024 season may face the challenge of rebuilding the team without key players on both offense and defense.

Derrick Henry, one of the standout running backs of the past five years, is set to enter free agency. Despite an impressive track record of surpassing 1,000 yards in five of his last six seasons, including 1,167 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2023, the Titans may lose Henry, who expressed a desire to join a contender at 30 years old. The team may also face the departure of Azeez Al-Shaair, their leading tackler from the previous season, who, at 26, could command a substantial contract.

In addition, former starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill is expected to leave the Titans during free agency. Tannehill’s early success with the team, including leading them to the playoffs in 2019, 2020, and 2021, was followed by a decline in performance in 2022. Rookie Will Levis took over as the starter in the 2023 season.

Defensive end Denico Autry, the Titans’ leader in sacks with 11.5 in 2023, is also set to become a free agent. Despite being 33 years old, Autry’s career highs in tackles and sacks make him a valuable rotational piece for teams aspiring to reach the Super Bowl. Additionally, Sean Murphy-Bunting, a key defensive back for the Titans in 2023, showcased his playmaking abilities and is expected to be in high demand in the upcoming free agency period after leading the team in interceptions, passes defended, and tying for forced fumbles.
