While it may have seemed unlikely in the past for the Utah Jazz to acquire LeBron James, there is now virtually no possibility.

Previously, there was a slim possibility of LeBron James joining the Utah Jazz if they drafted his son, Bronny. However, this scenario is now deemed highly unlikely. In a recent proposal, we suggested that the Jazz could use their late-first-round or early-second-round pick to select Bronny James, with the intention of luring his father, LeBron James, to the team during the offseason.

The idea was centered around addressing the Jazz’s need for a small forward, envisioning a starting lineup with James alongside players like Lauri Markkanen, Walker Kessler, Collin Sexton, and Kris Dunn. The bench would feature Keyonte George, Brice Sensabaugh, Taylor Hendricks, and Jordan Clarkson. The plan also involved developing Bronny James into an NBA-ready player.

Despite our initial optimism, the recent exclusion of Bronny from mock draft boards due to an underwhelming season at USC has prompted a reevaluation. The Jazz are now advised against using a pick on Bronny this season. While he may still have potential, it appears he needs another season at USC to fully assess his capabilities.

While foregoing the opportunity to land LeBron James is a consequence, considering his limited time left in the NBA, building a long-lasting dynasty with both LeBron and Bronny was improbable. The likelihood of securing a game-changing player in the draft, such as Cooper Flagg, seems more plausible than achieving significant success with LeBron and Bronny over just a couple of seasons.

Bronny remains a prospect worth monitoring, especially in 2025. However, it is evident that health concerns have hindered his development, and a return for another season at USC is deemed necessary. While he may still emerge as a great prospect, the 2024-2025 NBA season might not provide the clarity needed on his potential.
