Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah, returning from a tumultuous season that saw him demoted to the minor leagues, experienced some discomfort during a bullpen session at the team’s training facility in Dunedin, Florida, on Friday.

Following the session, Manoah underwent an MRI, and manager John Schneider reassured on Saturday that there were “no structural concerns whatsoever.” Schneider mentioned that during the bullpen session, Manoah felt a bit uneasy and wanted to exercise extra caution at this early stage in the training camp.

In 2022, Manoah had an impressive record, going 16-7 with a 2.24 ERA in 31 starts for Toronto. However, he faced challenges last year, posting a 3-9 record with a 5.87 ERA in 19 starts and being sent to the minors on two occasions.

During his initial spring start on Tuesday, the 6-foot-6 right-hander struggled, hitting three batters and throwing only 17 of 38 pitches for strikes in 1 2/3 innings.
