Free agent Danilo Gallinari has reached an agreement to join the Milwaukee Bucks for the remainder of the season, according to reports from The Athletic and Stadium’s Shams Charania. The confirmation came from Gallinari’s agent, Michael Tellem of Excel Basketball, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Gallinari, a power forward, was recently released by the Detroit Pistons after being traded from the Washington Wizards in January, following the NBA trade deadline. In the 2021-22 season, he played for the Atlanta Hawks, and the previous season with the Boston Celtics, although he was sidelined due to injury. He was then traded to the Wizards in the offseason and is currently averaging 7.9 points per game this season.

Despite being 35 years old, Gallinari has showcased his scoring prowess throughout his career. In the 2018-19 season with the Los Angeles Clippers, he achieved career-high averages of 19.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

While not as potent a scorer as in previous years, Gallinari could serve as a valuable scoring option off the bench for the Bucks as they aim for a deep playoff run. The veteran also drew interest from the Clippers and Phoenix Suns.

The Bucks, currently third in the Eastern Conference with a 35-20 record, are under the guidance of new head coach Doc Rivers, seeking a return to the NBA Finals. The addition of Gallinari is seen as a potential boost to their aspirations.
