The Lady Vols basketball team faced a defeat in their last regular season game, even with Rickea Jackson contributing 29 points.

The Lady Vols basketball team experienced a loss in their final regular-season game against South Carolina, concluding with a score of 76-68. Despite notable performances from Rickea Jackson and Jasmine Powell, the Lady Vols (17-11, 10-6 SEC) couldn’t overcome the top-ranked South Carolina (29-0, 16-0).

Head coach Kellie Harper acknowledged the formidable challenge posed by South Carolina, highlighting their proficiency in various aspects of the game. Despite the defeat, Harper noted positive aspects of the team’s performance.

One key area of struggle for Tennessee was rebounding, with South Carolina dominating the boards throughout the game. Harper acknowledged the Gamecocks’ prowess in this department and emphasized the missed execution of box-outs and the failure to secure offensive boards.

The rebounding statistics reflected South Carolina’s dominance, with the Lady Vols securing 41 rebounds compared to the Gamecocks’ 57. Rickea Jackson led Tennessee with eight rebounds, while Jewel Spear followed closely with seven.

Despite the overall challenge, Tennessee showed resilience in the fourth quarter, outscoring South Carolina 20-17. Coach Harper expressed pride in the team’s growth and the positive trajectory they have been on leading up to the postseason.
