Delon Wright has officially joined the Miami Heat, signing with the team after being waived by the Washington Wizards. In 33 games with the Wizards this season, Wright has been averaging 4.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, with shooting percentages of 39.3% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Wright and the Wizards have agreed to a contract buyout, paving the way for his move to the Miami Heat once he clears waivers. His agent, Greg Lawrence, confirmed the agreement and highlighted Wright as a reliable addition to the Heat’s rotation.

Wright, currently in his ninth NBA season, has previously played for the Toronto Raptors, Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, and Memphis Grizzlies. Over his career, he has averaged 7.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, shooting 45.3% from the field and 35.4% from three-point range in 494 regular season games. Additionally, he has participated in 37 NBA playoff games.

The Miami Heat, currently the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference with a 30-25 record in 55 games, have shown recent success with a 6-4 record in their last ten games and a two-game winning streak. Having reached the Eastern Conference Finals three times in the past four seasons, the Heat have also made two NBA Finals appearances in that span. With the addition of Wright, the team anticipates strengthening its bench for the remainder of the season.
