According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Miami Heat are set to acquire Delon Wright. The Washington Wizards have officially waived Wright, who played 33 games with them this season, averaging 4.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He shot 39.3% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range.

Wojnarowski reported that Wright will undergo a contract buyout with the Wizards and is expected to sign with the Miami Heat after clearing waivers. Wright’s agent, Greg Lawrence, confirmed this move to ESPN, stating, “Washington Wizards guard Delon Wright has agreed on a contract buyout, clearing the way for him to sign with the Miami Heat upon clearing waivers. The veteran guard, in his ninth NBA season, has previously played for the Toronto Raptors, Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, and Memphis Grizzlies. Throughout his career, he has maintained averages of 7.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, with shooting percentages of 45.3% from the field and 35.4% from beyond the arc over 494 regular season games. Wright has also participated in 37 NBA playoff games.

The Miami Heat, currently the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference with a 30-25 record in 55 games, have shown a recent improvement with a 6-4 record in their last ten games and a two-game winning streak. Over the past four seasons, the Heat reached the Eastern Conference Finals three times and made two NBA Finals appearances. Delon Wright is expected to be a valuable addition to their bench.
