Jimmy Butler contributed 22 points and nine assists, Terry Rozier added 19 points in his return from a knee injury, and the Miami Heat secured their fifth consecutive victory with a 106-96 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night. Rozier, who hadn’t played since sustaining a knee injury on Feb. 11 against Boston, impressed Heat coach Erik Spoelstra with his ability to challenge defenses.

“He has the skill to break down the defense or force an overreaction from them,” Spoelstra commented. “Having multiple players with such offensive capabilities is beneficial. I also commend his dedication to returning quickly; he put in a lot of time to make this happen.”

Rozier himself acknowledged the rigorous effort he put into his recovery, foregoing a break during the All-Star hiatus and committing to intense training sessions. He expressed gratitude to the medical staff for ensuring a cautious and thorough recovery process.

Both Butler and Nikola Jokic made their comebacks after serving one-game suspensions due to an on-court altercation in New Orleans on Feb. 23. The Heat, facing numerous lineup changes throughout the season, tied a franchise record with their 31st different starting lineup, matching the total from the 2014-15 season.

Despite an early 15-point lead for the Blazers, the Heat steadily closed the gap, ultimately taking control in the third quarter and securing the lead. Anfernee Simons led the Blazers with 26 points, while Jerami Grant contributed 24 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

Deandre Ayton of the Blazers exited the game in the second half due to a right hand sprain, sustained after a first-quarter collision with Kevin Love. Although Ayton had a strong first half, the Heat managed to capitalize on his absence to secure the victory.
