Marvin Harrison Jr.’s performance on the field speaks volumes.
Although the Ohio State wide receiver opted out of on-field drills and physical testing at the NFL Scouting Combine, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer revealed on Monday that Harrison met with nine different teams and underwent medical evaluations at the event.
Despite not participating in the headline-making combine events, Harrison remains highly regarded as one of the top prospects in the upcoming draft. His track record at Ohio State is impressive, earning him accolades such as two-time All-American, Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, Heisman Trophy finalist, and Biletnikoff Award winner.
During the past season, Harrison showcased his skills with 67 catches for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns, despite facing challenges with less-than-stellar quarterback play compared to other top receiver prospects like Washington’s Rome Odunze and LSU’s Malik Nabers.
As the son of Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison, a dominant force for Peyton Manning on the Indianapolis Colts, the younger Harrison has proven himself capable of making contested catches, beating defenders deep, high-pointing passes in the end zone, and creating plays after the catch. While living up to his father’s legacy is no small feat, there is no doubt about his talent heading into the draft.
The NFL Scouting Department at Bleacher Report ranks him as the top prospect overall in the entire draft, and it would be surprising if any other receiver were selected before him in April.
