According to USA Today, the Detroit Lions are among six teams that have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed. Despite being designated with the non-exclusive franchise tag before entering free agency, there are indications that Sneed might be available for the right offer.
Under the non-exclusive tag, Sneed has the liberty to engage in discussions with other teams. Should he choose to play under the franchise tag for the upcoming season, his contract would be fully guaranteed at $19.8 million.
At 27 years old, Sneed has played a pivotal role in the defensive success of the Kansas City Chiefs. Over the last three seasons, he has started in 28 out of 48 games, initially breaking into the starting lineup as a fourth-round rookie in 2020. Notably, with 900 snaps as an outside cornerback in the previous season, Sneed appears to fulfill numerous criteria for an upgrade to the CB1 position, aligning with the needs and preferences sought after by the interested parties.
