Mitch Trubisky, the former quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is set to make a return to the Buffalo Bills after agreeing to a new deal with his former team, as reported by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
At the onset of the offseason, Trubisky was released by the Steelers, resulting in a $3 million reduction in their salary cap. This move also allowed the seasoned quarterback to enter the free agent market early, given that he could sign with a new team at any time following his release.
Trubisky’s tenure in Pittsburgh did not unfold as anticipated. Initially brought in as the team’s starting quarterback, he was benched after just four games in favor of then-rookie Kenny Pickett. Although he later filled in as a starter during injuries, Trubisky struggled, going 0-2 in the past season and ultimately being replaced by third-stringer Mason Rudolph.
His overall performance with the Steelers included eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Despite this, Trubisky had previously proven to be a valuable backup during his time in Buffalo. As he returns to the Bills, he is expected to provide support to Josh Allen and seamlessly integrate into the team’s roster for his second stint.
