DAILY GOSSIP: The quarterback situation proved challenging…

In 2023, the Steelers didn’t boast a strong team, yet they managed to secure victories in numerous close matches, earning a spot in the playoffs. Despite entering as the seventh seed in the AFC, they put up a fight against the second-seeded Buffalo in the wild-card round.

The quarterback situation proved challenging, with 2022 first-rounder Kenny Pickett struggling and eventually succumbing to an ankle injury in Week 13. Even upon recovery, Pickett didn’t reclaim his starting position. Backup Mason Rudolph showed promise at times but didn’t exhibit the qualities of a franchise quarterback. Consequently, the Steelers are taking a chance on Russell Wilson, signing him to a one-year deal. With Mike Tomlin at the helm for 17 years, the team remains in capable hands, as he has yet to experience a losing season as the Steelers’ head coach.
