After serving as head coach for the Texas Longhorns for three years, Steve Sarkisian has earned a spot on the midseason watch list for the Dodd Trophy. This award recognizes college football coaches who prioritize not only on-field success but also academic excellence and character development.
Under Sarkisian’s leadership, the Longhorns have had an impressive start to the season, boasting a 5-1 record (2-1 in the Big 12). Their consistent performance has earned them a place in the Top-10 of the AP poll for six consecutive weeks, a feat not achieved since 2009.
Texas ranks 13th nationally in total offense, averaging 486.5 yards per game, and sits at 25th in total defense.
In addition to being named to the Dodd Trophy watch list, Sarkisian has also been included in the Bryant Award watch list. This accolade, presented in January, recognizes coaches who make significant contributions both on and off the football field, impacting fans and athletes alike.
