During the 2009-10 NFL season, Sean Payton led the New Orleans Saints to their first-ever Super Bowl victory. However, former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White remains unimpressed even nearly fifteen years later, as his NFC South rivals clinched the Lombardi Trophy.

But don’t just take our word for it; take it from Roddy White himself, the second-ranking player on the Falcons’ all-time receiving yardage list. White asserts that the success of the Saints, led by Hall of Fame QB Drew Brees, overshadowed the contributions of Coach Payton. According to White, Payton hasn’t achieved much since their Super Bowl win.

While White’s stance may seem humorous, it’s worth noting that the 2009 season marked only Payton’s fourth as an NFL head coach. Since then, he boasts an impressive record of 203-63 with the Saints, and even a 8-9 record last season with the Denver Broncos. Additionally, Payton has led his team to a 5-7 playoff record since their Super Bowl victory.

The reason behind White’s sudden criticism of Payton remains unclear, but we couldn’t resist sharing this amusing anecdote.
